Jakobovits gave a talk at the East End Congregation of jacob Synagogue
on Sunday as part of the British contribution to the European
Day of Jewish Culture and Heritage. UK events attracted more than
10,000 people, with big turnouts at the Victorian synagogues in
London and Brighton and the Georgian synagogue buildings in Cheltenham
and Exeter. The 75th birthday of writer Bernard Kops was celebrated
at East London Central Synagogue, where actor Warren Mitchell
was among the guests.
